MSB Fall League - Information |
The Mississippi Select Baseball Fall League is a 4-team league for competitive high school
players in grades 9 through 12 for the 2009-2010 school year. The purpose of the league is . . .
to provide local high school players the opportunity to maintain
and improve their baseball skills during the off-season, alongside quality players and under the direction of
qualified coaches with collegiate or professional credentials.
The MSB Fall League will operate under the rules for high school play in Mississippi except that teams
will have the option of batting a continuous lineup or using a single “extra hitter” if they so chose.
Pitchers will not be allowed to pitch more than three consecutive innings in a single outing in fall league
play. Teams will consist of 12-15 players, and each will be coached by a paid professional baseball coach,
manager or scout. Players will receive a team jersey and cap with their registration. The cost to play
in the league is $175.00. Teams will play 1-2 games per week beginning September 12 and continuing through
October, a 12-game schedule.
Umpires utilized in the MSB Fall League will be high school certified as a minimum.
The MSB Fall League will operate at a single site – newly-renovated Legion Field at the New Albany Sportsplex
(just off US 78 in New Albany, Mississippi), the baseball home of the Cotton States Baseball League, the Blue
Mountain College Toppers and New Albany High School.
The MSB Fall League teams will be identified with teams from the Cotton States Baseball League – North Delta
Dealers, Golden Triangle Jets, Tallahatchie Rascals and Tupelo Thunder.
The MSB Fall League will feature a collegiate level internet website complete with full league stats,
news, schedules, standings, and player and coach profile pages. Players may apply online for entry
into the league at this time at www.MSBFallLeague.com.
Each MSB Fall League team will employ coaching staffs with collegiate and professional connections. Cotton
States Baseball League veterans Curt Fowler (Blue Mountain College Head Baseball Coach) and Joel Gafford
(CSBL Tupelo Thunder Assistant Coach) will coach two of the teams.
Players will be required to provide uniform items (other than jerseys and caps) and gloves/mitts and bats.
High School certified aluminum bats will be used in the MSBFL.
